Auburn bowl situation
The regular season is over, and the bowl game selection is Sunday. It seems that Auburn will go to either the Cotton, Outback, or Chick fil'a bowl.Auburn was to be picked to play in the Cotton Bowl, it would be against the #2 team in the Big 12, which will be either Missouri or Oklahoma. If Auburn went to the Outback Bowl, they would pay Wisconsin (allready accepted bid). If it was they Chick fil'a Bowl, they would match up with the ACC #2 team, which would be either Clemson, Boston College, or Virginia Tech. I believe it will probably end up being the Outback bowl for the Tigers. A game against the Wisconsin Badgers, which would be a favorable match up for them. I personally would like Auburn to play in the Cotton, because that would put Auburn against a top 10 team. It would be fun to watch them play Oklahoma or Mizzou. It will be interesting to see which bowl game they are picked to go to. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumors put to rest
As most of you know, there have been rumors that Tommy Tubberville would be offered the head coaching job at Texas A&M. Not so fast my friend, as Lee Corso would say, because Today, Texas A&M hired Mike Sherman, Houston Texans offensive coordinator, to take over as head coach of the Aggies. That makes me feel a lot better. Tubberville met today with university president Jay Gouge and Atheletic director Jay Jacobs to discuss the direction of the program. Jacobs said, " It was a great meeting." Tomorrow, Tubberville is expected to meet with Jacobs to talk about his plans to improve the program. Some of the things expected to be discussed are things like: Assistants sallaries, and Improving the Facilities. Here is a link to a video that was sent to me through e-mail. It is awesome. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFXxeYRobcY
Was There a Football Game this Weekend?
Well things went pretty much like most thought it would this weekend. Thanks to all who voted in our poll. I picked against conventional wisdom. I should've learned my lesson from others. When the Braves streak of division titles was rolling along- alot of sportswriters finally vowed to not bet against them until they lost. I guess until something goes different then I should just go with the flow. I'm sitting here listening to James Taylor tunes about to get ready for work. This is truly the calm after the storm. A quick note here. There is a rumor out and about that Auburn has contacted Texas Tech's Offensive Coordinator. It would be an excellent choice and would drastically improve our passing game. I ponder if the timing of an O. C. change might not be atleast partially related to the wide receivers that Auburn has the potential to recruit this year. Ofcourse this is all speculation and it may be that we stick with Al- I would lean towards this being his last on the plains. I think Tubs sees the need for a few changes in the offense. Anyways I must go get ready. Peace, Love, And War Eagle!

No Need to FEAR, SIX Is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have waited year for this day. I have talked about last years Iron Bowl win for a year now, and now I can talk for another. I woke up this morning around 10 and watched the last hour of College Gameday. Corso went with Auburn and Herbstreit went with Alabama. It is always good to have one on the other side so you can say that he was proved wrong when it is over. The Game, on the other hand, was a great one. The game started out with Auburn stopping Alabama on 3 and out. Auburn took over on the 35 yard line, and took the ball 65 yards for a Touchdown to make the score 7-0. The game was then a defensive battle. After both teams exchanged a couple of possessions, Auburn got the ball and took it down the field. They kicked a field goal to make it 10-0. That was the score at the end of the 1st quater. Alabama was driving at the end of the 1st, and ended up taking it in for a score. Alabama pulled within 3, with the score 10-7 at the half. Auburn took their opening drive of the 2nd half down to the 26, but Byrum missed a 43 yard field goal. Going into the 4th quater Auburn had Alabama pinned deep in their own territory. Once again, the teams exchanged punts. With 8:48 to go in the game, Auburn took over with great field position, on the Alabama 44. They scored on a Brandon Cox sneak up the middle. The score was 17-7 with 3:58 remaining. Alabama put together a pretty good drive, and came away with a 49 yard field goal to make the score 17-10. Alabama decided to go with the onside kick, but it was recovered by Auburn with 2:02 to go in the game. Auburn then ran the ball a few times and got a first down, which was enough to run out the clock and claim the sixth Iron Bowl victory in a row.
Tonights victory makes 5 years, to the day, since the streak started on Nov. 24, 2002. It feels great to have #6 in the bag. The game was great, and I enjoyed it very much. Six is sweet, but seven will be 7 times sweeter. Untill then, all I can do is brag about 6. That's not so bad, I'll take it. lol. All we can do is wait untill Iron Bowl 73 kicks off in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 29, 2008 when Auburn will look to continue the streak. From right now, the OFFICIAL countdown is: 1 year 3 days 22 hours and 35 min till gameday. Untill then, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iron Bowl Prediction
Well it's that time. After waking up early this morning to fight people for a sewing machine. I'm very behind on sleep so I'm gonna do something against conventional wisdom. Gonna pick this game to end up with a not-as-close-as-the-last-few-years score. I think the Bammers come out competitive but find themselves down by ~10 going into the 4th- A late TD off a turnover (courtesy of JPW as usual) makes the Final Score 27-10. Their is no scientificity(I know that's not a word) to my prediction. I know the weather COULD be wet but like I said- My pick is against conventional wisdom and everyone knows that usually makes you very right or very wrong. I hope I'm wrong. I hope we win 70-0. WAR EAGLE EVERYONE!

No Iron Bowl?
Can you imagine NOT having an Iron Bowl? I got to thinking about what I would do without the Iron Bowl. It would be completely different. At school we would have to argue about who would win, or who we thought would win, but we would never really know who would win the big game. Well, for many of you who didn't know, between the early to mid 1900's the Iron Bowl wasn't played for 41 years. Many say that it was because of a fight on the field or something of that nature. Here is the real reason: Auburn wanted Alabama to pay $3.50 per day for 22 players, and Alabama only offered $3.00 a day for 20 players. Another reason is that Auburn head coach Mike Donahue wanted a northerner to officiate while Alabama wanted a southerner. If this was to happen now, I would consider it like World War I (Saban).lol. When football season rolled around and that game was not on the schedule, I would be crushed. As we are now on the verge of Iron Bowl 72, the tigers and tide have played 68 years in a row (going on 69), and Auburn is on a 5 game winning streak. At 7:00 on Saturday night, on what is expected to be a rainy fall evening, these teams will meet up once again. Auburn is coming in with a 7-4 record and Alabama is sitting at 6-5. Both teams are dissapointed in their seasons and will look to make it all better with a win on Saturday. Auburn is the favorite to win number 6 in a row against the tide by somewhere between 5 1/2 to 6 points. It is now Thanksgiving day and The Game is just 2 days away. This is the Greatest Rivalry in sports and it's hard to understand unless you live here. All the fans (especially me) have been running their mouths about who is going to win all year. We only have about 52 1/2 hours left untill game time, and all we can do is wait and see who the winner will be. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!

Saban to LSU?
The Newest Contributor to the Auburn Fanatics Blog is here. The party can begin!
What sounded like merely some fans murmuring only a few days ago is starting to look like a real possibility. Rumors, from at-least somewhat credible sources, have begun to swirl around message boards about Saban's guests for the LSU-Alabama Game. It just so happened to be many of the powerful trustees in the LSU family. Could it be the heat is too much for Saban and he's looking for a convenient out? LSU is a winning program with some tradition but in the long haul does not carry near the scrutiny of the Alabama media. This, most likely, has something to do with the pro team just down the street taking pressure off of the college team. Time will tell but IF (and it is a pretty big IF- Les is 1/2 the Jerk of Saban and 1.5 times the idiot) the job comes open, they will at the very least send out some feelers to Satan (not a typo). Smile~ Daniel

SABAN HAS CLASS?
You know something, I have heard a lot the last couple of days that Saban has all of this class. If he does I haven't seen it. I didn't know that comparing a football game to a great American tragedy was good class. I didn't know that reducing a player's suspension to a half suspension because you're losing was good class. And I didn't know that when the players walk off the field without even shaking hands with the other team was good class. He may have class and I may be wrong, but from what I've seen so far, he doesn't have that much class. And I know that comparing the game to a great catastrophe doesn't bother us too bad. Most of us, around this area, don't have family that was involved in 9-11. It doesn't bother me that he said what he said, it just bothers me that he probably didn't even think about what the families that he might have hurt.
Another thing I've heard about him is that he is losing because those are Shula's players. They are, but what is going on in Miami with the Dolphins. I know it's NFL, but he rebuilt that team. In case you didn't know, the Miami Dolphins are 0-10 right now. Those are Saban's players and they aren't winning.
I was looking at a power poll at http://blog.al.com/segrest/2007/11/the_sos_power_poll_penultimate.html , and I thought it was interesting how Auburn and Alabama fans voted. The overall poll was this: LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi St., Alabama, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss. When this poll was broken down into how Auburn and how Alabama fans voted, the results were somewhat surprising. Auburn and Alabama fans voted Auburn 5th in their polls. Auburn fans voted Alabama 9th, while Alabama fans voted them 11th. I thought it was interesting that Auburn fans think more of Alabama than Alabama fans do. Then only team below Alabama in the SEC Alabama fan poll was Ole Miss. They haven't even won a conference game yet.
That's about all for today, WAR EAGLE!!!!!

WOW, what a weekend
Wow, on a weekend when Auburn is off and Alabama played Louisiana-Monroe, I thought I would be fighting to find something to write about. Boy was I wrong. THE Alabama Crimson Tide lost to Louisiana Monroe. No, you didn't misread it. Alabama lost to Louisiana Monroe. It was not pretty. The final score was 21-14. The potent Louisiana-Monroe Defense, lol, turned Alabama away 3 times in the fourth quater to pull off the biggest win in ULM history. After Alabama fans have been asking where Jimmy Johns has been. He got the start, and what does he do? He fumbles late in the 4th. No one in their right mind predicted this to happen. It shouldn't have happened, but it did.lol. Now, with a loss to Auburn, Alabama will possibly be out of a bowl game. After a season that started so promising. After starting out 3-0, some Alabama fans even thought National Championship. While Alabama was out losing to ULM, some other things did actually happen around college football.
Ohio St. beat Michigan to keep their title hopes alive. They still have an outside chance at a National Title.
Georgia beat Kentucky. They will be praying for Kentucky to beat Tennessee, so they can go to Atlanta next week for the SEC championship game.
Tim Tebow became the only player in College football history to throw 20 TD's and run for 20 TD's. Can you say Heisman?
Tennessee beat Vandy and keeps the SEC east in their hands. If they can only beat Kentucky.
On the other hand, Tubberville said this today talking about being Auburn's Football Coach: "We're going to be at Auburn as long as they want us here. We're fired up about that." That really makes me feel better. That doesn't assure anything, but it does sound really promising. We will know more about that after Saturday's game vs. Alabama. The Iron Bowl should be fun. Auburn has had a week to prepare, and Bama will look to redeem themselves after the loss to ULM. I can't wait. After all, this is my favorite week of the year. No question about that. It is right there with Christmas.lol. Well, that is all for today.................... WAR EAGLE!!!!!

WARNING: Disease Spreading Throughout the Glencoe Area
I have heard from a numerous amount of sources that an Auburn fan from Glencoe, Alabama, by the first name of Daniel, will be attending this Saturday's Alabama vs. UL-Monroe game. Sources have been stated saying "We don't know what happened. He just all of a sudden decided to go." Doctors have said that this sounds like a condition known as Bamasitis, which is inflammation of the Brain. This can be treated with antibiotics or the complete removal of the brain. Research has shown that the first stages of the disease occurs when the first thought of attendence occurs. The latter stages of this horrifying illness occurs after he/she has actually attended the game. I will try to keep you all updated on the condition of this diseased human being. If you have any questions about this rare disease, send a comment and I will do my best to answer. lol.

Picks Of The Week
There are 4 in conference games in the SEC this week. So, I'm going to throw in some national games as well. Here they are:
#23 Kentucky @ #9 Georgia - This is my SEC game of the week. I think it will come to Georgia's secondary vs. Andre Woodson and the Kentucky passing attack. I think Georgia will be able to hold up and win this one, but I would not be surprised to see it go the other way. Georgia will be rooting for Vandy to upset Tennessee this week, because if that happens and Georgia wins out, Georgia goes to Atlanta. I see this being a pretty high scoring game. I will pick: Georgia-41 Kentucky-35
Mississippi St @ Arkansas- McFadden will have a big game. But, if Mississippi St can contain him and force them to pass I think this could be a good game. I am going to go with: Arkansas-31 Mississippi St-24
Vanderbilt @ #20 Tennessee- Tennessee controls its own destiny in the East. They know that and will come ready to play. I pick: Tennessee-31 Vanderbilt-10
#1 LSU @ Ole Miss- I think LSU will win this pretty easily. They can clinch the West Title with a win and can keep there #1 ranking with a win. I pick: LSU-34 Ole Miss 13
#7 Ohio St @ #21 Michigan- Both teams are coming off losses. The winner will go to the Rose Bowl. I think this is gonna be a great game. This could be Lloyd Carr's last game against Ohio St. and he will look to win and go out in the Rose Bowl. I pick: Michigan-27 Ohio St.-21
#6 West Virginia @ #22 Cincinnati- West Virginia will look to stayin the national title hunt. This is going to be an offensive game, but I think the defense that can force the most mistakes will win this game. I think it will be very close game. I pick: West Virginia-42 Cincinnati-38
#23 Kentucky @ #9 Georgia - This is my SEC game of the week. I think it will come to Georgia's secondary vs. Andre Woodson and the Kentucky passing attack. 2008-2009 Auburn Football Schedule
The football year is coming to an end, and today, next years football schedule was released. I am going to show it to you, and talk about what I think the Tigers will do next year:
Aug. 30 Louisiana-Monroe
Sept. 6 @ West Virginia
Sept. 13 @ Mississippi St.
Sept. 20 LSU
Sept. 27 Tennessee
Oct. 4 @ Vanderbilt
Oct. 11 Arkansas
Oct. 18 Southern Miss
Nov. 1 @ Ole Miss
Nov. 8 Tennessee-Martin
Nov. 15 Georgia
Nov. 29 @ Alabama
It is a very favorable schedule for Auburn next year. Looking at the away games, it looks like Auburn only has two games that really stick out. The first one is West Virginia. West Virginia is a team that could come into the year in the top 10, that is IF Pat White and Steve Slaton don't pass up their senior year for the NFL. If they don't, then they probably won't be ranked. I think that Auburn's success in that game all depends on how fast the starting QB can mature. The Alabama game is allways a good game. Both teams are allways ready for that game.
I think the BIGGEST game of the year will be the home game against Georgia. Georgia is very young this year and I believe they will be ranked very high at the start of next year. That team will be better next year than it is this year, and we have seen what they can do.
I think Auburn will be very good next year. All the freshmen that played this year will only improve from where they are now. The offense will be fine once it finds the right QB to take over. The Defense will be good as usual. Of course I, being the Auburn fan that I am, think they are going to win every game. But, being realistic, 9-10 wins will probably be closer to their actual record. Well, that's all for today. WAR EAGLE!!!

Alabama, YOU'RE UP!
It is finally here. The last week of school before the Iron Bowl. I began my Iron Bowl talk today since we will be out of school next week. Let's just say that everyone at school either hates me this week or loves me. Today, I almost got beaten up. I can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for me. Any way for the real news:
Auburn began it's preparations for the Iron Bowl today. Not much happened today, and they were very thankful for that. King Dunlap said that the team is so tired from 11 weeks straight with no break. He said that everyone was still mad about the Georgia game. It was hard to swallow. His main point was that the Alabama game is still the biggest game of the year, and they WILL be ready.
The game has been set for a 7:00 pm kick off. CBS gets the first choice on SEC games, and they declined the Iron Bowl. ESPN will air it. This is good for ESPN, because this game will have a huge audience. It doesn't matter the record or rank of these teams. This game means so much to those guys that they will bring their A-game no matter what.
Injury report: Tubberville said that Tristan Davis could get to play against Alabama. He said " He's starting to look pretty good." Also Linebacker Chris Stevens is expected to play in the game next week.
That's all for today, WAR EAGLE!!!!

Today in the SEC
Well, today was a horrible day for me. It hurts even worse to lose to Georgia like that. Anyway, here are the scores for the week.
#18 Auburn-20 #10 Georgia-45, I was way off on this pick. Auburn was up 20-17 with 6 min. to go in the 3rd qtr. Then, Georgia scored 28 points in in 8 min. to go up by the final score. Don't really know what happened. Cox threw 4 interceptions. If you turn the ball over that many times, it will kill you. Georgia will be hoping for a Tennessee loss to get a chance for a trip to the SEC championship.
#22 Alabama-12 Mississippi St-17, I was right on on this score. I picked Bama-13 Miss St.-17. Good game went as expected for me.
Arkansas-13 #24 Tennessee-34, Very unexpected, Tennessee came out ready to play. McFadden was held to only 117 yards on 22 carries.lol. Tennessee controls it's destiny in the SEC east. If they can beat Vandy and Kentucky, in that order, they will be bound for Atlanta on December 1.
#25 Kentucky-27 Vanderbilt-20, I got the winner right, but the game was a lot closer than I expected.
#15 Florida-51 South Carolina-31, Not as close as I thought. Tebow had 5 rushing TD's and 2 passing TD's accounting for all of Florida's TD's. He might have won the Heisman tonight. Florida will be rooting heavily for Vandy or Kentucky to knock off Tennessee and Georgia. In case of a three way tie, Florida gets the Go-ahead to Atlanta.

SEC Picks Of The Week
What a week we have ahead of us in the SEC. 11 of the 12 teams in the SEC will be in action this week. I am going to start with my SEC game of the week.
My game of the week is of course #18 Auburn @ #10 Georgia: This is gonna be a great game in Athens. The away team has won a majority of the games in the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, and I don't think it will be any different this week. The Auburn starters only played for one quater in last weeks win over Tennessee Tech, so I look for them to be good and rested for the game. As I mentioned yesterday, I think Auburn will look to stop the run early and I think the Offense will look to expose the Georgia secondary. I pick Auburn to win this one 24-14.
#22 Alabama @ Mississippi St.: IT'S JUST MISSISSIPPI ST.!!!!!! That is all I have heard all week. This Mississippi St. team is a pretty good team. They have went into Jordan-Hare and beaten Auburn, and they have beaten Kentucky, who beat LSU. Alabama is coming off an emmotionally draining game vs. LSU. Miss. St's defense is pretty good. I think Mississippi St. will come in and just try to control the ball and just pound it right at Alabama. This one is a tuff one to pick, but I am going to go with Mississippi St to pull the upset over Alabama 17-13.
Arkansas @ #24 Tennessee: This is gonna be a great game. McFadden is coming off a record setting performance against South Carolina. I look for Arkansas to squek out a win 27-24.
#25 Kentucky @ Vanderbilt: This is an easy pick for me. I pick Kentucky to win 41-13.
#15 Florida @ South Carolina: This game has the potential to be a very good one. The Ol' Ball Coach vs. his old team. South Carolina would've knocked Florida out of the National Title game last year if it wasn't for a blocked field goal as time expired. I think it will be as close as last year with the same outcome. I pick Florida 26-24.

Auburn: Ready for Georgia, Injury report
Auburn finished up preparations for the Georgia game today. Tubberville said that there will be some things different this week in the game on special teams. He wouldn't secify what he meant by that, but he did say that it would be very obvious when the game starts Saturday. After hearing about Troy torching the Georgia secondary for 373 yards this past week, I think Auburn will come out throwing the ball right at them. I think the Defense will try to make them one dementional on Offense by stopping the run. Georgia starting running back Knowshon Moreno is third in the SEC in rushing rards with 1003 yards and 9 TD's. I think Auburn will try to stop him, causing Georgia to throw the ball. They aren't that at throwing the football, but I do think that they are better at running. If Auburn can stop him early I think they will win this game pretty easily.
As far as injuries go, Tubberville said that line backer Craig Stevens will not dress out this week. Tristan Davis, who runs and returns kicks, will dress out for the team on Saturday but is not expected to play any.
That's about all today. WAR EAGLE!!!!!

Auburn practice, and King Dunlap
Auburn practiced in Jordan Hare Stadium today for the first time all year. Tubberville wanted to make sure they were taking this Georgia game seriously. Tubberville said it was a very spirited practice today. That tells me that the team is going to be ready for this game.
Today at the weekly SEC press conference, Tubberville said that senior King Dunlap will get the Start over freshman Ryan Pugh at left tackle. Dunlap was injured earlier in the year which allowed Pugh to take the starting job. Pugh hurt his ankle in a 9-7 win over Arkansas, and that has allowed for Dunlap to catch up with him and his starting possition.

Today in Auburn
This is my first post. I made this blog so I could let people know what is going on with different things at Auburn. With my first post I would like to talk about the rumors of Tommy Tubberville going to Texas A&M. Tubbs finnally talked about this subject at a press conference today. He didn't say much, but he did say something. He came out and said that his focus right now is on finishing off this season on a good note, that is beating Georgia and Alabama. He said that there are a lot of jobs open every year. He has been rumored to be wanted by some school in 7 of the nine years he has been at Auburn. Auburn started off at 1-2 this year, and Tubberville said that after starting off with that record, he thought he would be taking a job at the end of the year. As many of you probably know, Tubbs has turned the season around and ever since that horrible start Auburn has gone 6-1. Which was unexpected to most. He said that the players work very hard for these last two games and they were not going to mess it up by worrying about all these rumors. Tubberville stated,"Anything I say is going to be looked at, turned around, flipped around. It doesn't make any difference. I'm going to, as I do every year, sit down with Jay and the president at the end of the season and we'll go from there." He went on to say that there was no reason to meet any earlier than that.
When asked directly about the Texas A&M job Tubberville said that he has friends there. The main reason the media considers him a major candidate is because he coached there in 1994. After what he has done at Auburn, Why wouldn't he be a major candidate? Tubbs said that there is probably 15 other people up for the job. He said that these rumors make for good talk, and that is all.
I personally don't think Tubberville will leave Auburn, but I do think he will act interested in order to get a raise. Tubberville knows how to lead people on and I think that is exactly what he will do. Im sure he wants a raise, so he is going to make everyone think he is kinda interested in the job so he will get a raise. He will probably want a raise between about $3.5 million and 3.8 million. I think he will want his contract to be a lot closer to Nick Saban's. I just say this, don't be surprised if Tubberville leads this on a while. I love Tubberville and I hope he doesn't leave. I think it would be dumb to let him go. I mean who are they gonna hire that will be able to do that much better?
If Tubbs was to leave, which he isn't, Auburn would just go out and get the top coach on the market and go from there. The bottom line is that after this year, Tubberville will more than likely get a raise and stay at Auburn. I don't think Auburn wants to let him go, the fans don't want him gone, and I know I don't wan't him gone. All it is is talk, just like he said himself. That is all for now. I will try to keep you updated. WAR EAGLE!!!!!
