Bowl Gifts for Players

Something I didn't know (and just learned) is that the bowl officials have gifts for all the players playing in their bowl. From what I can see, all the gifts are very nice. They can ONLY spend a maximum of $500 per player. That is a lot of money. Auburn players will be receiving the new Ipod nano video (pictured above). Some of the other gifts are these: Champs sports and Capital one Bowls are taking the teams in their bowls on a shopping spree to Best Buy, where each player will be able to spend a $400 gift card. The Holiday, National championship, and Alamo Bowls will all give the players a Nintendo Wii. Teams in the Rose Bowl, will receive a Sony Bravia theatre system. The defense is flying under the radar?

Auburn's offense, for the first time this year, is getting all the publicity for the bowl game. With new OC Tony Franklin, everyone has been talking about what the offense will do in the bowl game. Whether it will run it's old west coast style offense, or the new spread style offense. Who knows? One thing I do know is that the defense is just loving it. While everyone is talking about the new OC, I got to thinking, What is going on with Auburn's 8th ranked defense in the country? The answer is, they are getting good and prepared, trying to figure out how to stop the running back tandem of CJ Spiller and James Davis. All I know is those RB's better be ready to get hit.lol

On another note, there is a scandal going on at Florida State. Apparantly, up to 20 of their players will be suspended for the Bowl Game against Kentucky, and the first three games of the 2008 season. It has been reported that they all were caught cheating on an online course. There were NO coaches involved.

That's all for today, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First practice

Auburn Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin (wierd to say) was at his first practice with the tigers on Friday. Tuberville says that he mostly just evaluate the players. Tubs says that he expects the change to be smooth. Most high schools these days run out of the spread, so most of the players should catch on fairly easy. Burns, Caudle, and Field all ran it in high school. Burns said that he ran the exact same offense in high school. There is no telling who will win the starting QB job in the spring. It appears that Kodi Burns will fit the offense best, but you never know who will show up in spring. Whoever wins it, the future still looks bright. That's all for today, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to be the funniest thing I've seen in quite some time!

I don't know how true this thing is BUT if it is real I am officially the biggest La- Monroe fan outside of Monroe. I was at the game--- which very few Auburn fans can say, and it was GLORIOUS.

So here is the story:

The trip to Shreveport includes a bus ride for the Crimson Tahd that goes directly through Monroe, Louisiana on I-20. So a group of Louisiana Monroe fans put together 12 Grand and put up this bill board:

Here is a link that will take you to a blog with a map of the bus ride: WAR EAGLE READER

All SEC team

The all-SEC team was released last week. Auburn had two people make the team; Sr DE Quentin Groves was a first team selection, and Fr P Ryan Shoemaker was selected to the second team. For a further look at the rest of the All-SEC teams, click the link:

On other note, Will Muschamp is said to be one of the candidates for the Arkansas head coaching job. Arkansas is going through a list of head coaches first before the start to go after assistants. I am surprised that he hasn't been mentioned for any of the other coaching jobs. He has done a great job as Defensive Coordinator at Auburn, helping them to be the #1 scoring defense in the SEC. He has had great success.

Heisman Trophy

There isn't much new going on with Auburn right now, so I thought I would take a look at the heisman candidates and predict a winner.

Tim Tebow: The first QB in College football history to rush and throw for 20 TD's in one season. That really is amazing. He had a great year. Here are the stats: 3,132 yards passing and 29 TD's and only 6 Interceptions, with a 68.5% completion percentage. Also, 838 yards and 22 TD's.

Darren McFadden: McFadden is probably the greatest running back I have ever seen in my life. With his combination of speed and power, there is none like him. Stats: 1,725 rushing yards and 15 TD's. 123 yards passing with 4 TD's, and 164 receiving yards with 1 TD.

Colt Brennan: Led Hawaii to their first undefeated season in school history. Are going to the Sugar Bowl to face Georgia. Stats: 4,174 yards passing with 38 TDs, 14 Interceptions with a 72.4% completion percent.

Chase Daniel: Missouri was ranked #1 in the country going into the Big 12 championship game. Only lost 2 games this season. Stats: 4,170 yards passing with 32 TDs and 10 Int., and a 69.7% completion percent.

With that being said, I am going to say who I would vote for and who I think will really win.

My Ballot:
1. Darren McFadden
2. Tim Tebow
3. Colt Brennan
4. Dennis Dixon
5. Pat White

This is how I really think it is going to go:
1. Tim Tebow
2. Darren McFadden
3. Colt Brennan
4. Chase Daniel

That's all I have for today, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!

Aubie a la 2007

And here's a link to the latest on Coach Tubs- http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2007/12/tuberville_agrees_to_2year_con.html

This is why I didn't emotionally involve myself with this whole situation- I was pretty sure this would be the outcome.

Bowl Games are Out

The Chick-Fil-A Bowl it is. On December 31, Auburn will play Clemson in Atlanta in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. It will be a great matchup. I can't wait. There are 9 SEC teams going bowling this year. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Other SEC bowl games are: BCS National Championship- LSU vs Ohio St., Sugar Bowl- Georgia vs Hawaii, Capital One Bowl- Florida vs. Michigan, Cotton Bowl- Arkansas vs. Missouri, Outback Bowl- Tennessee vs. Wisconsin, Music City Bowl-Kentucky vs. Florida St., Petro Sun Independence bowl- Alabama vs Colorado, Liberty Bowl- Mississippi St. vs Central Florida. Well, There are your SEC bowl games. It'll be a ton of fun. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a Year!

After a crazy year in College Football, I just wondered how it would end. I thought I had finally figured out who would play for the National Championship game: It was going to be West Virginia and Ohio St. I just knew that is what it was going to be. I had Mizzou losing to Oklahoma, and West Virginia beating Pitt. Well, I started to watch the Missouri game and, as expected, they were losing. Then, I turned over to the West Virginia game expecting a blowout. Man was I wrong. I didn't think Pitt would be able to stop the WV offense. I was wrong again. Pitt beat them 13-9. So, does anyone want to play in the National Championship game? It is hard to tell. # 1-2 lost, 3-5 were idle, and 6-9 won impressively. So, Who will play in the big game? It looks like LSU is going to jump from 7 to 2 and play against Ohio St in the title game. Just yesterday, everyone thought Les Miles was going to Michigan. Now, it looks like he is going nowhere but to the National Championship. Who would've guessed? It has been the wildest year of football in my lifetime, and I expect nothing less this bowl season. That is all I have today, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!
