Rule Changes Proposed by NCAA Rules Committee

The NCAA rules committee has proposed a couple of changes. There are a couple of them, one of which OC Tony Franklin does not agree with. I thought I would inform you of a couple of them. Remember these have not been passed yet. Here they are: The play clock will be 40 sec. starting at the end of the play, instead of a 25 sec. play clock starting when the ball is marked ready for play. The play clock would remain at 25 sec. after a change of possession. Coach Franklin likes this rule, because it would allow Auburn's new spread offense to keep the defensive linemen in their stance longer, and try to tire them out. Another one is that when you go out of bounds, the clock will start back when the ball is marked ready for play, instead of when the ball is snapped. The rule would not apply in the last 25 sec. of each half. Franklin does not like this one, he made this statement, "I don't think I like that one, there are a lot of out-of-bounds plays.
