This is a very good interview on the Paul Finebaum radio network. If you have doubts about Coach Gene Chizik, this may make you feel a little better. It doesn't take long to load at all. Very good quality! Check it out and then comment on it. This will clear some things up a little.

Coach Chizik and Auburn Get Their First Signee

Coach Gene Chizik got his first signed letter of intent from Juco defensive lineman Nick Fairley. Quick job from CGC. He has only been the coach for a couple of days and is already showing us something. This is only one signee, but let's hope he can go out and shore up all of the other commitments that CTT had, and add some more. Fairley is 6 foot 4, 295 lbs, and runs a 4.89 40 yard dash. He seems to be a good signee that can add some more depth to Auburn's experienced defensive line next year.

On another note, Auburn President Jay Gouge claims that he was "surprised" at the initial negative reaction to the hiring of CGC. I don't know why he is so surprised! Not many people in the Auburn family saw this one coming. In fact, not many people at all even wanted this hire to come.

Charles Barkley came public this week on the hire of CGC. He claims that Auburn hired CGC for the main issue of race. He says that if Chizik was black, he wouldn't have even gotten an interview. My opinion: Barkley, get a grip. I'm tired of no matter what happens you pull the race card. I understand that you think it is unfair, but you are making not only Auburn, but the whole STATE of Alabama look bad with your smart little comments. These comments have been all over ESPN, and the whole country is aware of the comments. The main reason, in my opinion, Chizik has been hired is his connections with Auburn and his familiarity with the area around Auburn. I don't think race played a roll at all.

War Chizik?

Gene Chizik? Really? After 10 days of waiting, 10 days of speculation, and 10 days of Jay Jacobs interviewing any person that has a heart beat and breaths, the search is over. Gene Chizik is Auburn's new Head Coach. I know, I know, 5-19 in two years as a head coach. I know, 2-10 this season with a 10 game losing streak, I have heard it all. Calm down, calm down, it's not going to be that bad. It is kind of hard to get excited when he has that kind of record, but look at what he did at Auburn. In 2004, his defense allowed only 11 points per game, and the team was 13-0. The next year, he was the defensive coordinator at Texas where they were 13-0 with a national title. His streak ended the next year at 29 games. The man knows how to win. Before we start putting him down and throwing him under the bus, lets give him a chance.
What I have heard about him so far, and what I have seen so far has been positive. I have read a couple of things about him from people who have coached around him that have said he is a very good coach that is fiery and knows how to win. This could be just what Auburn needs. Sunday night, he met with all of the assistants. He told them all to look for other jobs. A lot of Auburn fans (not I) wanted a major change, and this is what we are getting. Lets hope he gets out there and hires some big time coordinators to help with recruiting, we're going to need it. He also met with HIS team Sunday. He said "Don't be worried. This isn't a rebuilding thing. I'm not going to start from the ground up. We're coming out next year and we're going to be a lot better football team." I like the way that sounds. He sounds very determined and ready to get to work. Watching the video of his arrival he seemed very excited. He gave everyone a WAR EAGLE and said he was happy to be back at Auburn.
I don't know about everyone else, but so far so good. HC Chizik has done nothing wrong at Auburn, and until he does he has my support. All of you Auburn fans that are ready to jump ship can go ahead. We don't want you! Everyone else, lets support him and give him a warm welcome! That's all I have for today...........................................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Search For a New Coach

When will the madness stop? How much longer will we have to wait before a new coach is named? Personally, I don't care how long they take as long as they get the right guy in there. Whoever he is, he must be able to continue and improve on what Tuberville has done for the past 10 years. That means: produce players of character and professionals. Players that not only get the chance to go pro in football, but also get a degree in the process. He did it the right way like few people do these days in this league.

On with the SFNC (Search For a New Coach):
Rumors are going around that South Carolina HC Steve Spurrier is one of the candidates for the job. Very interesting............Among all time SEC coaches, especially in the last 10-15 years, Spurrier is one of the biggest names. He could possibly consider this job. He may be frustrated at South Carolina. I don't know if he still has it in him to win in this league. He definitely knows what it takes, but can he do what it takes? I don't know. He has had a couple of years going 7-5 or somewhere around there and just isn't winning at USC. Hiring him would be HUGE for the school and is one of the few names that could come in and compete with Satan. I personally wouldn't like the hire because the man is 62 years old and more than likely wouldn't stay long.

That's all I have for today.............................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEC Championship Game Predictions

What a match-up we are going to see. The power running game of Alabama vs. the high scoring fast paced spread offense of Florida. This is possibly the biggest SEC Championship game of all time. This game is much like that of a playoff's semi-final game. The winner cements its place in the national championship game and the loser goes to the Sugar Bowl. This is going to be good. Let's look at the match-ups on both sides of the ball:

Offense:
Two completely different philosophies. Florida likes to spread the ball out and get down the field quick. Alabama likes to line up and hit you in the mouth and eat up the clock. Running game: Florida is ranked 10th in the league in rushing offense, Alabama is ranked 22nd. Both teams are equally good in this department, but I give Florida the advantage because of the speed they have on offense. Passing offense: Florida is ranked 61st here, Alabama is ranked 97th. I give the advantage to Florida here because of Tim Tebow and his amazing ability to find a way to spread out the ball to everyone on the team. Scoring offense: Florida is ranked 3rd, Alabama is ranked 28th. I don't see any advantage here. Florida gets the advantage as far as quickness, Alabama gets the advantage when it comes to time of possession. Overall advantage: I give the Offensive advantage to Florida.

Defense:
The two best defensive teams in the SEC. Both teams are very good on this side of the ball. Rushing Defense: Alabama is ranked 3rd, Florida is ranked 12th. I give Alabama the advantage here. Mt. Cody is a beast. Passing Defense: Florida is ranked 17th, Alabama is ranked 20th. Florida has the numbers but I give the advantage to Alabama. Their cornerbacks and safties know how to make a play on the ball and knock it down. Scoring Defense: Alabama is ranked 3rd, Florida is ranked 4th. I don't really see an advantag here, but I saw first hand last week, it is hard to score on Alabama. Advantage goes to Alabama. Overall: I give the Defensive advantage to Alabama.

Special Teams:
Florida is very good on Special Teams. Punt Returns: Florida is ranked 7th, Alabama is ranked 13th. I give an equal advantage here. Both teams are very good at returning punts. Florida is ranked 58th, Alabama is ranked 106th. I give the advantage to Florida. Turnover Margin: Florida is ranked 1st, Alabama is ranked 21st. I give the advantage to Florida. Watching them, they are very good at forcing turnovers and do not commit very many. Alabama is very good also, Florida just does it more often.

Overall:
This is going to be a very good game that is going to come down to the 4th quarter. I believe it is going to be a pretty high scoring game which plays to Florida's advantage. Both teams can score points, but Florida can score a ton of points. I think Florida's speed will be a huge part of this game. My prediction: Florida-31 Alabama-23

I am excited about this game! Any football fan should be excited! I would not be surprised to see either team win this game. I would not be surprised to see either team break the game open and win big. Whoever wins this game, it is going to be a good game. That's all I have for now...................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Favorite Candidate For the Head Coaching Job

  • I have to say that at this point, there is no way to know who really is a candidate and who isn't. Looking at all the names out there to this point, I have decided who my favorite candidate is. That candidate would be Paul Johnson out of Georgia Tech. He would be a perfect fit at Auburn. It took him only one year to turn the program at GT around. I love watching his option attack run all over defenses. This is who I want to be the new head coach at Auburn! However, there is one problem. He has only been at Georgia Tech for one year, and it would probably be pretty hard to pry him away.
Another of my favorite coaches among those being mentioned is Chris Peterson out of Boise State. He is only a HC in the WAC, but his team is constantly undefeated. Seems to be a very good coach and man to my knowledge. I like the way his team plays, they are very consistant and win games. He could be a very good head coach.

On the other hand, I have thought about it overnight and have come to the conclusion that the next Auburn HC will probably be Mike Leach. After finding out that Washington is apparantly going to name USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian head coach, I got to thinking and it seems as though all signs are pointing to Leach as the next HC. I am still trying to decide if I really want him to be the coach. If Leach could retain Paul Rhodes as DC, I would like it a lot better. Imagine Texas Tech's offense with a Paul Rhodes defense! That team would be very hard to beat.

Among some of the other possibilites for the job are:

  • Will Muschamp (Texas): Don't see him coming. I think he likes it at Texas, and he is Head Coach in waiting.
  • Bobby Petrino (Arkansas): Has only been at Arkansas for one year and has a clause in his contract that says he can not go to another SEC West school. That means no!
  • Steve Spurrier (South Carolina): Seriously? I don't know about this one. Would be a huge hire that would likely bring many recruits with him. I think his last coaching gig is South Carolina. I just don't see where there is any chance he leaves.
No matter who Auburn chooses to be the next coach, I will support them. Jay Jacobs said today in the press conference over and over again that they would "choose the coach that best fits in with the Auburn family." I hope he lives up to his word and does just that. That is all I have for you today............................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuberville OUT as Auburn Head Coach

10 years, 80-45, one SEC championship, 13-0 in 2004 in the toughest conference in college football, 6 wins in a row vs. our biggest rival, the best record in the SEC since 2000........................What a run it has been with ex-coach (that sounds weird) Tommy Tuberville. I don't know what I am going to do next year when I go to an Auburn game and slap a different coaches had at the Tiger walk. I am going to miss those days. I really am! Auburn could not have had a better coach at the school the last 10 years. The way he conducted himself, kept his players out of trouble, and communicated with the media very well. With all that said, I accept the decision made by athletics director Jay Jacobs and university president Jay Gouge. I don't like it at all, but I do however accept it. The main thing I do not understand is who they plan on coming in. Surely they have talked to someone and it should not take long to name the new head coach. I say this because when you fire a coach like Tuberville, you must have someone in mind. There have been two coaches that have been rumored to have been contacted:

Mike Leach, Texas Tech: Good coach, nut head, could be a good hire. This is one of the few big names out there. I personally don't like him all that much because I like to see good defense and with Leach, you are not going to have that good of a defense. He is 4-12 against his big rivals in the Big 12. Do we really want that at Auburn? I don't! I want a proven winner.

Bobby Petrino, Arkansas: This is the man that was contacted in jet gate before the iron bowl in 2003. I think he is a very good coach, but he has only been at Arkansas for 1 year. It is going to be hard to get him away from there, but who knows.

Sad day for me. All we can do from here is wait and see what goes on. That's all I have for today................................................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IRON BOWL WEEK!!!!

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted anything. I really haven't had anything to talk about in the past couple of weeks. Now, it is Iron Bowl weekend. How could I go through Iron Bowl Week without updating? I couldn't, that's why I am here. Let's look at the matchups this weekend, and see where the advantages are. I will let you decide.

Offense
What can I say about offense? It is pretty obvious who has the advantage. Or is it really as obvious as it seems on paper? Auburn is ranked 98th in the league in passing offense. That is horrible if you really think about it. You may be asking, where is Alabama ranked? They are 100th in the league. I know it sounds a little odd, but it is the truth. Rushing offense is where Alabama has a clear advantage. Alabama is ranked 23rd in this category where Auburn is ranked 64. Total offense, Auburn is ranked 98th and Alabama is 58th. While yes, Alabama does have an advantage on the offensive side of the ball, but it really isn't as much of one as you would think.

Defense
Defense is where this game starts to even out just a little. Rushing offense: Alabama is ranked 3rd, Auburn is ranked 45th. Advantage goes to Alabama there. Pass defense if very even. Auburn is ranked 26th in the league and Alabama is ranked 27th. No clear advantage there. In total defense, Alabama is ranked 3rd and Auburn 24th. Alabama has a small advantage in this category, but not big enough to make a difference this weekend.

Special teams
This is where most of the experts think the game will be decided. Both teams are good in this category, but who is the best? Net punting, Auburn is ranked 16th; Alabama is ranked 59th. Advantage goes to Auburn. Punt returns, Auburn is 14th; Alabama is 15th. Everyone is even there. Kick returns, Auburn is 4th; Alabama is 104th. Very clear advantage there for Auburn. The special teams advantage goes to Auburn.

Overall
I think from what we have looked at, Alabama has the overall advantage 2-1. Defense isn't much of an advantage at all. Auburn will have to stop the Bama rushing attack and put the game in JP's hands. If they can do that, and I think they will, they will be in very good position in the 4th quarter to upset the tide. Auburn's strategy should be to pin them deep on special teams, which is very likely with punter Clinton Durst a master hang-time artist punting for the Tigers, and force them into 3rd and long and not let that running attack get going. I believe this is going to be a very good game and the Tigers will be in position to win it in the 4th. My prediction: Auburn-24 Alabama 20.

This will make 7 in a row for Auburn and more to come. Sevenly will be heavenly!!! That's all I have for today, more 2mara after the biggest upset in Iron Bowl History!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Predictions

The time is here again. It's almost Saturday, which I call football day, Auburn football day to be exact. Even with the 4-4 record, I still get excited every week. I have predicted every week, and truly thought the team would win. I have been bad luck. Im not going to go away from that this week though. Here are my predictions for the week:

Auburn @ Ole Miss
Big game for the Tigers! The outcome of this game will probably decide if Auburn will or will not make a bowl game. Personally, I am trying to reserve tickets to the Papa-Johns.com bowl. That seems like the destination. A loss tomorrow could cost them a chance at a bowl opportunity. I think the team is rested up and ready to go. Although losing 34-17 @ West Virginia, they did show signs of improvement on the offensive side of the ball. I think this is going to be a very close game. The defense should be some better than last week. My Prediction: Auburn-28 Ole Miss-24

Alabama vs. Arkansas St.
Prediction? I don't know if this is worthy of a prediction. This game is not going to be close at all, and it shouldn't be. The home team is tons better than the opposition. I don't think Alabama will play for style points, I think they will simply take care of business. My prediction: Alabama-38 Arkansas St.-6

Georgia vs. Florida (Jacksonville)
The east will be decided on Saturday. Will it be Georgia? Will it be Florida? Talks of a championship are flying everywhere on both sides of this game. A win in this game will put the team in great position to talk about a championship. A loss this late, will probably knock the team out of contention. Both teams are clicking on all cylinders. I think Florida's team as a whole is playing better at this point. Georgia gave up 31 points to a not as good Alabama offense in the first half. Florida should be ready to go. My prediction could be a shocker to some, but I personally do not think this game will be that close. My prediction: Florida-38 Georgia-17

Texas @ Texas Tech
What a match up. Gameday will be in Lubbock for the first time in it's history. This is going to be a great game. I will be sitting in front of the T.V. watching this one. A matchup of two high powered offenses and ok defenses. Defense will decide this game. Both teams will be able to score, so who will have the most chances to do so? The team that forces the most turnovers wins this game. For some odd reason, I am feeling the Raiders this week. If they can come away with a W, the voters will be in a weird position. Will they vote Texas Tech to jump everyone and take over the top spot? Or will Alabama simply move up and take over the spot? Either way, it will be exciting! I think a walk on kicker with very little experience will decide this game. My prediction: Texas Tech-41 Texas-38

I am very excited about this week! There are plenty of reasons for a football fan to be excited. If Auburn will come away with a win I will feel a lot better. That's all I have for today and Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!......................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Predictions

Well guys, it's been a long year, and we are only a little over half way through. Thursday was a rough one. Coming out, it looked like the Auburn I have grown to love. Finishing out looked like the same team we have seen all year: the play good first half, choke second half team. When you are leading every game at half time, you should win most of them. Auburn has been ahead by at least 10 points in every game this year, but somehow they have came away with 4 losses. I'm glad there is no game today, maybe they can find a way to win next week vs. Ole Miss, it's not going to be easy though. Although Auburn has no game today, I am still going to pick the big games of the day. Here goes:

Alabama @ Tennessee
I'm getting this vibe for some reason this week that Tennessee is going to pull one out of their butts and play an actual football game. Alabama is good, but this rivalry will take everything they've got. I haven't said this yet this year, but I think Alabama will lose this game. Tennessee is looking for a win, and Alabama is, in a sense, struggling. This game will come down to the 4th quater, and the winner will be by no more than 10 points but I'm thinking less. My prediction: Tennessee-24 Alabama-21

Georgia @ LSU
Georgia is slowly getting even better. Stafford is running the offense, Moreno is running the ball, and A.J. Green is catching the ball. This is a huge game in deciding the SEC and National championship. The winner will continue on their quest, and the loser will likely drop out of the picture. I think Georgia is going to win this game very close. LSU will play a lot better than they did vs. Florida. My prediction: Georgia-27 LSU-24

I am going to stop there at the big SEC matchups of the week. Good luck to all. That's all I have for today............................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday Predictions

That title just sounds weird. Wednesday predictions sound really early to be predicting, but with a Thursday night game, this is the best time to do it. I am only going to post my Auburn prediction today, more will come later. So, without making you wait any longer, here goes:

Auburn @ West Virginia
This game isn't nearly as big as we all originally thought when it was scheduled. Before the season, this is how it sounded: Two top ten teams, two exciting spread offenses, in a very good evironment on national T.V. with everyone watching. Sounds great huh? Now, lets see how it sounds now: Two unranked teams, two offenses ranked, Auburn (97) West Virginia (82), in scoring, still a good environment on national T.V. and who know how many people will be watching. Personally, I am just as excited as I was in the preseason. Auburn is coming off of a bye week, and I want to see improvement. Defensive Coordinator Paul Rhoades was one of the few coaches that have been able to stop West Virginia's potent offense the last couple of years when he was at Pitt. I think he has faster players on the defense to counter that speed on West Virginia's offense. Kodi Burns will play with a lot more confidence this week as the starter. I think Auburn comes out ready to go. This is going to be a great game, but in my opinion, Auburn will come away on top. My prediction: Auburn-24 West Virginia-16

That's all I have for today, I will be back later with the rest of my predictions for this week. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barret Trotter Could Play vs. West Virginia

Kodi Burns will go into the West Virginia game as the no. 1 quaterback on the tiger's depth chart. He will get the start. I don't know if Chris Todd will play at all. Tommy Tuberville seems to be in desperation mode. Last week, he fired Tony Franklin in mid-week. This week he is going to talk to Barret Trotter and family to see if it is ok if he takes off his redshirt and plays him next Thursday vs. West Virginia. I know Tubs is searching for an answer to the offensive woes we have seen the past couple of weeks, but is it worth taking the redshirt of a future player? In my opinion, this season is all but in the dumps, before he takes off the redshirt, put in Neil Caudle and see what he can do. When a coach shows that he is desperate, he will lose his team. When a coach loses his team, he loses his job. Don't do this Tubs, I don't want to see you go! That's all I have to say today.........................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Top 10 After Today

A lot of the top teams went down today. When the AP poll comes out tomorrow, the top 10 will look very different. If I was voting, here is how my ballot would look:

1. Texas- Looked very impressive vs. Oklahoma
2. Alabama- Stayed idle, but did not look good enough last time out to move up
3. Penn St- Played a great game, beating Wisconsin by 41 points
4. Texas Tech- Stayed unbeaten in OT vs Nebraska
5. Florida- Beat LSU, and I mean Beat them down
6. BYU- Max Hall continues to come away with victories
7. Oklahoma- Looked good against Texas, but came away with a loss so will take a slight drop
8. USC- Blanked Arizona St. 28-0
9. Georgia- Beat Tennessee, but not very impressively
10. Oklahoma St.- Looked good, and stayed undefeated by beating Mizzou

Remember when looking at this that I do think some of these will actually happen, but most of all, this is my top 10 rather than my prediction. That's all I have for today..................................................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What A Day

It was a long day for me in college football. I woke up to a great Oklahoma-Texas game, listened to a horrible Auburn game, and finished with a blow out in the swamp. Going in, I expected Auburn to win pretty easily against Arkansas, who I thought was the worst team in the SEC. I was way off. Instead, Auburn came out flat, with what looked like no fight left in them, and lost the game. They looked like the worst team in the SEC, although they have more talent than most SEC teams. Tuberville fired Tony Franklin, but that was not the problem. We could see this year end ugly for coach Tubs if he doesn't turn it around, and turn it around quick. I do not want him fired, but the board of directors have been looking for something to fire him for for a while now, and they might just have a reason by the end of this season. The defense is still good enough to keep them in every game they play, but the offense is bad enough to keep them out of every game they play. We will have to wait and see what happens the rest of this year. That's all I have for now....................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Predictions!

Sorry guys, I'm a little late on posting this. My mom just had a liver transplant this past Thursday, and we have been here at the hospital for since Wednesday. Everything is going good with the transplant and mom is doing great! This is one thing Auburn and Alabama fans can be happy over together. There are a couple of big games this weekend. Auburn-Arkansas has turned out to be bigger than expected with the firing of Tony Franklin. Here is how I call this weekend:

Auburn vs. Arkansas
This is a huge game for coach Tommy Tuberville. If he loses this game, he is automatically on the hot seat in the minds of the board members. I think Auburn will come out big during today's game vs. Arkansas. What kind of offense they are going to run is a different question. I believe they will run a hybrid/simplified spread/west coast offense. I know it sound confusing, but it will be better than the spread itself has been. Kodi Burns is going to be in the game, I don't know when, but I think he will get more snaps than Chris Todd. The defense will be, well, the Auburn defense. Arkansas will move the ball, but will have trouble scoring. My prediction: Auburn-31 Arkansas-13

LSU @ Florida
It is never a good idea to challange the Heisman Trophy winner. That is exactly what LSU defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois did this week. He basically said that if he got the chance, he was going to hit Tebow and take him out of the game. Come to find out, Jean-Francois is out with a groin injury, and Tebow is not. This Florida team is going to be fired up. LSU is good, but I think Florida has more talent and will expose LSU's weaknesses. My prediction: Florida-28 LSU-14

Oklahoma vs. Texas
This is a game that effects everyone in the title hunt. OU is ranked number 1 in the country and Texas is ranked number 5 in the country. I am going to go against the experts and say the Texas is going to be ready to play. I believe that the winner of this game will be number 1 when the polls come out on Sunday (sorry Bama fans), meaning I think Texas will be the top ranked team next week. Will Muschamps defense will be ready to go, but a lot of points will be scored on both sides. My prediction: Texas-38 Oklahoma-31

Im glad it is Saturday and College football is finally here again. That's all I have for today................................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who Is Ready For A Big Game Against Vanderbilt?

Who is ready for a big game against who? Did I just say Vanderbilt? The same team that has been an automatic win for a while now? Well not anymore. This team has beaten two quality SEC teams, and is going to be a tough game to win for Auburn. ESPN College Gameday is actually going to be in Nashville for the game. That's how big this one is. In my opinion, this game will be the turn of the season for Auburn. Tuberville said that they may run the spread 100% this weekend if everything goes as planned. Mario Fannin is expected to get a little more involved this week, and rightfully so. He is a playmaker, and Auburn has got to get the ball in his hands. This could be the week that the offense finally clicks. I hope so anyways. We have been waiting all year for the "click" to happen. All we can do is wait and see. That's all I have for today..............WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Predictions

Well, here we go again. Yet another big SEC week, the big game is Alabama @ Georgia. Auburn vs. Tennessee is big too. Let's take a look at my predictions for this weeks games:

Auburn vs. Tennessee
Auburn is coming off of a very close loss to LSU last week. They lost it in the last minute. Tennessee is coming off of a very not close game against Florida. They lost 30-6. What more could these two teams have to play for? The loser will probably be out of the SEC race for this year. I think the Auburn defense will be ready to stop the offense of Tennessee. I think Auburn's offense will be ready to put up some points on that mediocre SEC defense at Tennessee. This game shouldn't be very close, but could be. Auburn's running game will look better this week. Tuberville said that Kodi Burns should get in this week. If that is so, the offense could take some strides forward. I think the offense will put up some points. My prediction: Auburn-31 Tennessee-10

Alabama @ Georgia
The gameday crew is moving from Auburn to Athens, Georgia to watch yet another big SEC matchup of top 10 teams. This one could be as good as last weeks. The Alabama offense hasn't seen a defense as good as Georgia's yet this year. They COULD have some trouble. On the other hand, Georgia's offense hasn't seen a defense as good as Alabama's yet this year. This is going to be a great game. I think Georgia's O-line will have some problems with Alabama's D-line, at first. I think Georgia will be just a little too much for the tide to handle. My prediction: Georgia-28 Alabama-24

That's all I have for today................................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Predictions

What a weekend we have upon us. 4 big SEC game, headlined by the game that is on the plains. I've had a lot going on with school this week, sorry I haven't been able to post this earlier. Some of these games are already over, but I am going to tell you what I thought going in to the weekend. Here are my prediction:

Auburn vs. LSU
This is the game I have been waiting for. I am pumped for this one. Two of the best defenses in the country, and two offenses that have questions to answer. Auburn's defense, in my opinion, has looked like the best in the SEC thus far. LSU's defense is a close second. What a game this looks to be. The #10 team in the country vs. the #6 team in the country, somebody has to lose. Both defenses are going to look to make the offenses one dimensional. I think they will load up the box and stop the run, forcing the offenses to pass the ball. The question is, who will have the better passing game? This game is going to come down to special teams. Robert Dunn will have a couple of chances to put Auburn in good field position, and I think he will. Wes Byrum is great in big games, and has shown that he is clutch. Another key to this game is the fact that LSU doesn't have a quaterback that has started an away game in the SEC, and to ask them to come into Auburn at night and win against this defense............It's just too much to ask in my opinion. My prediction: Auburn-13 LSU-10

Alabama @ Arkansas
This game should show something about Alabama, at least a little more. Arkansas has been terrible so far this season. They have beaten Western Illinois and Louisiana Monroe by a combined 5 points. That's right, 5! Alabama should handle them pretty easily and take care of business. Alabama will line up and dominate both sides of the line. I look for Alabama to win this one big. My prediction: Alabama-32 Arkansas-10

Florida @ Tennessee
The third big SEC game. Tim Tebow is superman. Tennessee can not compare with Florida's offensive fire power. Percy Harvin is back to health, and that offense will light up the defense. I think Florida will win this one pretty easily. My prediction: Florida-31 Tennessee-17

Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt
Both teams have looked pretty impressive this year. Both teams have shown loads of improvement. Vanderbilt beat a ranked team, and Ole Miss came very close to doing so. I look for this game to be very close and hard fought. I think Chris Nickson will be everywhere, making him my key to the game. I think Ole Miss will be ready for him and make this a game. My prediction: Vanderbilt-20 Ole Miss-17

Georgia @ Arizona St.
Georgia barely escaped South Carolina without a loss. It was as close as I thought. Georgia has not looked like the top team in the country so far, and have dropped to #3 in the country. They really need to make a statement this week against a non-conference foe. I think Georgia will do just that. My prediction: Georgia-27 Arizona St-9

This is going to be a great weekend of college football, especially in the Southeastern Conference. The season is finally in full swing. Good luck to all. That's all I have for today...................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What A Crazy Weekend

Sorry I haven't had time to get on here and post about last weekend, but I'm gonna go ahead and do so. It was a crazy weekend for us Auburn fans. What about for everyone else? Let's look at all the games that I predicted:

Auburn vs. Mississippi St

I'm going to start out by saying.............WOW! What a game it was. No one expected what happened. While it was a very good defensive game, I, I'm sure along with all other true Auburn fans, was stressed out. The game starts out and Auburn can't get anything going. After kicking a field goal early in the 2nd quater, I expected that to change......It didn't happen. Mississippi St kept Auburn out of the end zone and Auburn never scored again. The problem for the Bulldogs was that Auburn's defense was a little bit better. Never giving up a point. Auburn's offensive output was not terribly bad, they had 315 yards of total offense, which is more than they had in 6 games last season. So, why did they only score 3 points? When you have 9 penalties on the offensive line and 3 turnovers, it is very hard to put the ball in the end zone. In fact, the offense gave up more points than the defense did. With around 7 minutes left in the 4th, Mississippi St had Auburn pinned inside the 5 yard line. Chris Todd dropped back to pass and Ryan Pugh gets called for holding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. That would be the only time Miss St. would score. The Auburn defense did just enough to win the game. My prediction was way off, but I am very happy with any win. My prediction: 31-10 Actual score: 3-2 (no, it isn't a typo)
My Opinion on the Game:
The Auburn offense looked terrible. That is what I have heard from everyone that I have talked to this week. It seems as though everyone has a solution but the Auburn coaches. The fact that Auburn had 315 yards is something that most people did not realize. The main problem in Saturday's game was penalties and turnovers. The coaches have got to shed those numbers off. It is very hard to win games when you have this problem. Auburn has had 3 turnovers in 2 consecutive games, and that number has got to go. Fumbles can not happen if you want to win football games in the SEC. I believe this week Auburn will be fired up and come out a completely different team. The problems will be adressed by the coaches every practice this week. Hopefully, this week, the offensive line will be a lot more disciplined, and reduce those 9 penalties. All we can do is wait and see.

Alabama vs. Western Kentucky
Alabama did just what they needed to do. They beat Western Kentucky. Let's give them a round of applause for that big win! They finally beat a lesser opponent by a large margin. That is something they haven't been able to do recently. They proved me wrong. I expected the same Alabama team as always, but we didn't get it. My prediction: 28-9 Actual score: 41-7
My opinion on the game
No comment, just kidding, I always have a comment. Like I said, they proved me wrong and actually played a football game. I was definitely a little surprised that they won that big, but is it really impressive? No, not at all. It is just Western Kentucky. SEC teams are supposed to win big against teams like that. It only surprised me that they actually did it. Alabama plays Arkansas this week, lets see if they can keep it up against a real team. Although Arkansas has been very pathetic thus far, and in my opinion is the worst team in the SEC to this point. We won't really know much until next week against Georgia.

Georgia @ South Carolina
I thought it would be close, and it was. South Carolina was leading most of the first half. Georgia had a hard time in their first away game. It was hard fought, but in the end, they came away with a win. Apparantly it wasn't convincing enough to the voters, cause Oklahoma jumped them in the polls. Georgia is now #3 after starting out #1. They have a big out of conference game this week vs. Arizona St. Lets hope they can make the SEC look good and take out the Pac-10. My prediction: 27-13 Actual score: 14-7

USC vs Ohio St
Blowout? Yes, that is the perfect word for it. Ohio St had no answer for USC, especially without Chris "Beanie" Wells. Ohio St looked to be very over-rated Saturday. This is our only game to see them play against a good team. They will more than likely go the rest of the year without losing, possibly landing them back in the national championship game. After watching this game, it is obvious that they are not worthy of playing in that game. I honestly don't think "Beanie" could have done much. Too bad we don't get a playoff. My Prediction:32-13 Actual Score: 35-3

We have a great weekend coming up. There are 3 big conference game, and Georgia playing a big out of conference game. The game of the week is Auburn vs. LSU, and if you like defense, you might want to tune in. Anyways, that's all I have for today................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday Predictions

Sorry I haven't updated since last Saturday, but I forgot to do it. I am going to be gone for the weekend, so I am going to go ahead and post my predictions for the weekend. It is just Thursday, and Saturday seems so far away, although it is less than two days. Here goes the Saturday Predictions:

Auburn @ Mississippi St.
Finally, an SEC game. Saturday is Step 1 towards an SEC Championship. You have to win these games to get there. We haven't seen much from the Auburn offense so far, but we could see it open up a little bit more. I don't think we will see it fully up and running until next week, but more than last week. There was lots of improvement from week 1 to week 2, and if Auburn can make the same improvement this week, they will be great. This will be, by far, the most physical team they have played this year. Anthony Dixon will, in my opinion, be stopped by this awesome Auburn Defense. Hopefully, Chris Todd will play even better than last week. I think the turnover problem that caused us to lose last year to Mississippi St, will be fixed. Personally, I don't think this game is going to be close. My pick: Auburn-31 Mississippi St.-10

Alabama vs. Western Kentucky
Should I even predict this game? This SHOULD be a blowout win for Alabama, but will they play down to their competition like they did last week? This game should be out of reach in the first quater, but I'm not sure that it will. I'm not brave enough to pick Western Kentucky, and I don't think this game will be close. My pick: Alabama-28 Western Kentucky-9

Georgia @ South Carolina
I think this game could be closer than the experts think. South Carolina played bad in the loss against Vanderbilt, but they will come out better than that this week. I think Georgia will play like, well, Georgia. My pick: Georgia-27 South Carolina-13

USC vs Ohio St
This is the big one outside of the SEC. Everyone has been talking about this game since the schedules were released. Quite frankly, I'm ready for them to shut up and talk about the SEC, but that isn't my decision. I don't think this game will be close at all. Ohio St. is highly overrated, and USC is loaded with talent. Beanie Wells is questionable. What more could go wrong for Ohio St.? Yes, they will look better than they did last week vs Ohio, but it will not translate in a "W". I think USC will win with passing and letting Joe McKnight be himself. My pick: USC-32 Ohio St.-13

All in all, I see a great weekend ahead. It will be fun, no matter what. That's all I have for today.......................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Predictions

Outside of the SEC, this week doesn't have many big games. That doesn't make this week any less exciting. Let's take a look at the games of the week:

Auburn vs Southern Miss
Last week was very disappointing on the offensive side. The defense, on the other hand, was no disappointmen at all. Auburn had a Touchdown on Offense, Defense, and Special Teams last week. This is a game with two spread offenses going at it, so it should be fun to watch. Chris Todd is getting the start, and Burns is questionable. I think Auburn will pull this one out pretty easily. Paul Rhoads' defenses have a history of being very good against the spread, and I don't think that will change today. Southern Miss will not be able to move the ball very much. As far as the Auburn offense goes, I think they will look some better than last week. They will continue to get better every week. I pick: Auburn-31 Southern Miss-6

Alabama vs Tulane
Alabama looked like a new team last week, how will they follow it up? Tulane will be an easy game, but don't forget about Louisiana Monroe last year! I'm definitely not going with the upset, but we will see if the 32 million dollar man can get his team ready for this game. I think they will be ready this week, and momentum will carry over. I pick: Alabama-28 Tulane-7

Ole Miss vs Wake Forrest
I think this game will be very close. It is only a matter of time before Houston Nutt gets this team competing in the league. Jevon Snead will have to step up big time today against a pretty good Wake Forrest team. I think Ole Miss will pull the upset this week, and the SEC once again shows the ACC who is boss. I pick: Ole Miss-24 Wake Forrest-20

Florida vs Miami
Miami is on the rise. In order for them to win this one, they will have to keep Tebow contained. I don't think Miami is quiet there yet. Florida has too much talent for Miami. I pick: Florida-31 Miami-24

Georgia Tech vs Boston College
The option is back, or at least at Georgia Tech. I think this will be fun to watch. Boston College probably won't know how to stop the Triple-option attack. I think Georgia tech is going to run all over the place. I pick: Georgia Tech-34 Boston College-24

I hope everyone has just as good a week of college football as I am going to have. There aren't many Big games, but there are plenty of good match ups. That's all I have for today......................................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!

Chris Todd to Start on Saturday

After a, pretty much, terrible showing by Auburn Quaterbacks in Saturday's game vs. Louisiana Monroe, Tuberville and Franklin have named Chris Todd the starter for game 2 vs. Southern Miss. Kodi Burns was hurt in game 1, and is questionable. He may or may not play this week. IF Burns plays, the coaches will look to rotate the quaterbacks a little different this week. They hope to allow one of them to get into some sort of rhythm. They think that was a main problem in last weeks passing game. Neither qb got into a rhythm and Auburn only had a total of 85 yards. Hopefully the passing game will be able to compliment the running game that had 321 yards last week. The only thing that is for sure is the defense will be there and ready to play when the game starts. All we can do is wait and see if the offense will be as ready. That's all I've got for now.........................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!
I posted 3 posts today, so check out the other 2 below this one also!

What a Weekend!

The first weekend, is behind us. What happened? The SEC picked up just where it left off last season, dominating the competition. Only 2 teams have come away with a loss. Those teams are Mississippi St., who lost to Louisiana Tech 22-14, and Tennessee, who lost in Overtime to UCLA 27-24. Everyone else took care of business. Lets take a quick look at a couple of the games:

Auburn vs Louisiana Monroe

The game started out very dissappointing. The offense came out and did absolutely nothing. Then, Auburn football started. The first play of the game, ULM's qb dropped back to pass only to find Antonio Coleman hitting him in the back, causing him to fumble. Michael Goggins then picked up the ball (pictured below) going in for the score. The rest of the game, the defense dominated. The passing game struggled, and the running game was, well, Auburn's running game. They rushed for 321 yards. In the game the quaterbacks couldn't hardly get the ball to the receivers, and when they did, they would drop the ball. The passing game was very, very dissappointing. Kodi Burns got a huge cut on his leg, and Phillip-Pierre Louis was knocked out for the season on the opening kick off. Tubs has been bragging on Louis ever since the spring, and I was excited to see him play. Burns is going to be fine. Besides this, Auburn won the game 34-0, and did what they were supposed to do.

Alabama vs Clemson

How good is Clemson? That is the question I have been asking ever since the game has been over. Alabama came out Saturday ready to go right at them, and they did. Dominating the offensive and defensive fronts. If we knew how good Clemson really was, we could judge Alabama. Alabama showed loads of improvement. They looked like a completely new team from last year. Clemson, on the other hand, looked like a completely new team also. They looked horrible and couldn't get anything going. It was a great game for Bama who won the game 34-10.

This week will show us even more, and I can't wait for another great week of College Football! That's all I've got for today.......................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!

The Day is Finally Here!!!

Finally, we have a game Tonight!!! Auburn vs. ULM is in only 7 hours. How exciting is that? I am pumped. I was able to wake up early and watch college gameday this morning, and I truly feel like the football season is actually here. It takes a lot to get me out of bed early on a Saturday, but if anything can do it, its college football. I'm a little late on my picks for the week, but I'm going to go ahead and do it.

Auburn vs. Louisiana-Monroe
This will be an interesting game. The big story is who will win the starting quaterback job? The big story in my mind is how will the offense look, no matter who the quaterback is. This game should be a blow out, but how bad? With the new offense put in at Auburn, depth will really come into play in the 4th quater. Depth is something Auburn has, and ULM may not. In the first half, Auburn will probably put up some quick scores, and look for the defense to do some of the same. Auburn should win this one very easily: Auburn-38 Louisiana Monroe-10

Alabama vs. Clemson
Defense, defense, defense is the key for Alabama in this one. Especially the defensive front. Can Alabama stop the run? If they can they can win this game. If they can't stop the run, it could get ugly. I believe the Tide will at least be able to slow them down, so I think this game will be very close, coming down to the 4th quater. First offensive play for Bama, may be a quick pass to Julio. That would make the crowd go crazy, but it probably won't happen. My impact player is Cullen Harper, Clemson quaterback. If Alabama has to load the box, he will throw right over the top. This is going to be a good game, but sorry bama fans: Clemson-35 Alabama-31

This is going to be a great first weekend of football. Good luck to all (except Alabama). That's all I've got for today..........................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

We only have 5 days left!!!!!

Finally, the week is here!!! Game week!!!! There is actually a college football game this week. You read it right, THIS WEEK! Auburn football starts in 5 days and around 20 hours!! That feels awesome to say. I have been waiting since January 1st to say that Auburn plays a game this week!!! So, first victim of the year...................UL-Monroe. That's right, the same team that upset Alabama just last season. Do not underestimate them! While, yes, I don't see any way that the Tigers will lose against them, but we can't look at them and say there is no way. The only thing still in question is who will be the starting Quarterback? And the answer is......................No one knows. Not even OC Tony Franklin. According to him, both qbs will play in the opener. Which one will start is still in the works. That's all I've got for now...........................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!

Finally Something to Talk About!!!

After a long summer with mostly nothing to discuss, something has finally come out..........The AP preseason college football poll. It looks very good for the SEC, with 4 teams in the top 10. One of which is the Auburn Tigers! Although this poll doesn't mean much, it does put teams in better or worse positions for the end of the year (i.e. Auburn 2004). The polls top 10 looks good with Georgia getting its first preseason #1 ever in their history. They are joined in the top 5 by Ohio St, USC, Oklahoma, and Florida. Then, after that comes Missouri, LSU, West Virginia, Clemson, and Auburn. Most of the preseason magazines had Auburn a few spots lower than 10. There last preseason Top 10 was just 2 years ago when they started out the season ranked #4 in the AP. After Auburn, there isn't another SEC team until Tennessee at #18. Then at #24, Alabama makes their first appearance in the preseason polls since the year 2000. Let's give them a round of applause! Does that count as another national championship? Sorry Bama fans, but not this time. I know you fans aren't used to being in the preseason polls, but 24 is at the bottom of the top 25, not the top of it. That's all I've got for today..........WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

News on the recruiting trail

Sorry I haven't posted any this summer! There hasn't been much to talk about. In Auburn, the coaches have really been focusing on 2009 recruiting. As of just the other day, Auburn picked up their 19th commitment for next years recruiting class. At the moment, this is definitely the top in the SEC. Auburn is blowing away it's fellow conference foes. The closest team to them is LSU with a total of 13 commitments. Alabama and their great recruiting staff is really looking good compared to their in-state rival. They have a whopping 8 commitments at this point. It looks as though Auburn is tied for 3rd in the country as far as quantity goes. Ohio St. has the most with 24, 2nd is Texas A&M with 20, and then Auburn and Texas with 19. Hopefully, Auburn's coaching staff will keep up the good work. If this is any indication on how next recruiting season will end, the future is looking bright! If you would like to look at Auburn's commitments, I will leave a link for you to look at. That's all for today! WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's Been Going On?

I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would get on and give a quick recap. The real question is what has REALLY been going on.

For starters, A-Day has taken place. I should have posted on this earlier, but I haven't had much time. It was an exciting A-Day game where the team was really just trying to figure out who the arter would be at quaterback. Kodi Burns and Chris Todd are the final two candidates for the job. It looked as though after A-Day they would be going into fall in a head to head race. This is true, however, Kodi Burns played great in the last scrimmage. The coaches say this gives him a slight lead over Todd. Personal Opinion: I think no matter who wins the job, both of them will be getting a lot of playing time when the season comes around.

With the season just 16 weeks 4 days and about 13 hours and 6 min (from the time i wrote this, there is even less time now), early predictions are beginning to come out. Most of the ones I have seen have Auburn going around 10-2. The two losses coming against LSU and West Virginia. With Perrilloux's dismissal ( a whole subject in itself), the LSU one is questionable. The West Virginia game has pretty much been a toss up game in most of the predictions I have seen. My Opinion: If the quaterback transition goes over smoothly and the defense comes along under new defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads, Auburn will have a chance to make a serious run for something serious. That is a stretch, but if the Chick fil' a bowl was any indication, it all could happen.

Hopefully, I will begin to update daily. The season is getting here quick, and I am having withdrawals. I will come in before too long and give you my predictions. That's all for today though! WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A-Day Game

Tomorrow will be Auburn's anual A-Day game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. It has been said that it will be a passing circus. They have the quarterback job down to two people now. They are; Kodi Burns and Chris Todd. The job will probably not be settled before spring is over, but how they do tomorrow will help the coaches with the decision. Running backs, on the other hand, will be mostly held out. Brad Lester and Ben Tate will come in shortly before heading back to the sideline. The game will kick off at 1 pm, and will be aired on CSS at 6 pm tomorrow. This game is making me want football to be here. I can't wait for the season to start. That's all for today............ WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spring Practice Update

There is a lot of things going on at spring practice this week. With spring break coming up, they had a half scrimmage just the other day. All of the scholarship runningbacks have been held out, so practice has been focused around the quaterbacks. The defense has been working up a good pass rush to see how the they could handle it. Apparantly they handled it pretty well, cause they came through with 8 touchdowns. Chris Todd finally got well enough to practice. He was 17-25 for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns. He says he still can't throw like he should. Neil Caudle was 10-14 for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kodi Burns was 7-9 for 122 yards and 1 interception. This was only a half scrimmage with 100 plays. That's all for today. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spring Practice Update!

Spring practice has been going on for about a week now and the quaterback job already has a leader. That leader is Kodi Burns. Chris Todd was out with a shoulder injury and freshman DeRon Furr was looked at as more of a runner. That left about 30 passes a piece for Burns and Neal Caudle. Coach Tony Franklin said that Caudle was pretty good too, but Burns has the early lead. On the defense, Linebacker Josh Bynes really stood out. He is tall, long arms, and is very physical. Those are traits that a middle linebacker needs to have. That's about all for spring practice.

Doug Sergest is doing an SOS playoff for teams in the past 12 years. After a couple of rounds, 2004 Auburn was matched up with the 1998 Florida Gators in the semifinal. The SOS is basically a computer simulation that plays out the games. It was Auburn's time to shine and they went in and beat them 32-7. Ronnie Brown was the MVP after he and Cadillac Williams combined for 208 yards. Auburn is set to face off with the 2001 Florida Gators for the SOS championship game. If you would like to check out previous rounds, click the link below. That's all for today. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spring Practice

Spring practice has been scheduled to start two days earlier than originally thought. That day is next Tuesday. That means we are finally about to have something to talk about. The main question is who will win the QB job. My guess at just from what I know is Kodi Burns. He looked pretty good during the time he played in the Chick Fil'a bowl. Tony Franklin doesn't say that though. He says they are all on an equal playing field and anyone can win the job. Another question Franklin has is who will come through as the go-to receivers. No one knows how these things will come out, all we can do is wait and see. That's all for now. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rule Changes Proposed by NCAA Rules Committee

The NCAA rules committee has proposed a couple of changes. There are a couple of them, one of which OC Tony Franklin does not agree with. I thought I would inform you of a couple of them. Remember these have not been passed yet. Here they are: The play clock will be 40 sec. starting at the end of the play, instead of a 25 sec. play clock starting when the ball is marked ready for play. The play clock would remain at 25 sec. after a change of possession. Coach Franklin likes this rule, because it would allow Auburn's new spread offense to keep the defensive linemen in their stance longer, and try to tire them out. Another one is that when you go out of bounds, the clock will start back when the ball is marked ready for play, instead of when the ball is snapped. The rule would not apply in the last 25 sec. of each half. Franklin does not like this one, he made this statement, "I don't think I like that one, there are a lot of out-of-bounds plays. That's going to take plays out of the game." I just thought I would share these with you all in case you haven't heard about them. That's all for now. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!

No Big News is Good News I guess

This is why I never got a personal Blog--- atleast during football off-season I have a good excuse-- there's not much to write about. Oh yeah here's one bit of news. Alabama may win a "recruiting national championship". LOL... Judging by the way they count championships this may make number 14 for them. Sevenly will be heavenly!

Auburn Gets a BIG WIN at Home vs. Ole Miss

Auburn hosted the #15 Ole Miss Rebels in a game that they really shouldn't have had a chance in. Just when everyone was doubting them, they pull off the upset. They won 80-77 at home. That made Auburn's 2nd consecutive SEC west victory. They have been playing pretty well lately. They only have 6 or 7 scholarship players on the team. If they can play like this all year, it could be a pretty good year for them. That's all for now...................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Defensive Coordinator will be................

Paul Rhodes, defensive coordinator at Pitt has agreed to become the defensive coordinator at Auburn. It hasn't been officially announced yet. He will probably be formaly announced as the coordinator either later today or tommorrow. He will also be definsive backs coach. He has a pretty good reputation for coaching that position. In the past five NFL drafts, he has had four defensive backs taken in the first round. In this past season, Pitt's defense was ranked fifth nationally despite their 5-7 record. I am hoping he can bring that same thing to Auburn. All we can do is wait and see. That's all for now................WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

News on Defensive Coordinator

Many believed that Tommy Tuberville would name the coordinator by the end of this week. With one more day of the week left, there is still no DC. Hopefully, that want effect the 15 recruits that are visiting Auburn this weekend, 6 of which have allready commited to the Tigers. Some believe that Tubs allready has his coordinator and will announce it to the recruits. There hasn't been many names thrown out there, but here are a couple: former Duke head coach Ted Roof, and Clemson defensive coordinator Jeff Koenning. I got these names off of a blog written by Phillip Marshall, he is one of the closest reporters to CTT, and is usually pretty close on what he says. That's about it for now, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Coordinator by the End of the Week?

Since Muschamp (Auburn Ex-Def. Coordinator) is gone, Who will be the next great Auburn Coordinator? Well, we aren't sure yet, but it could be soon. Tuberville says hopefully by the end of the week. Let's just hope that is the case, cause one of the biggest recruiting weekends is this coming up weekend. Tubs is currently in Anaheim, California, for the Amercan Football Coaches Association, and should be back Wednesday. He hasn't said much, but he did say that he has a list of about 4 to 5 coaches. I don't know who they are, but I'm anxious to find out who will be the guy. That's all for today. WAR EAGLE!!!

Muschamp on his way out?

Looks like a strong possibility. Don't have time for a long blog about it but I will be truly disappointed. If it was for a head coaching job- I'd wish him all the best but to goto Texas for the same position would be disappointing. Got to run. Peace- Daniel

WHAT A WAY TO END THE YEAR!!!!!!

Just about one month ago, Auburn was coming off a big win over Alabama and the coaching rumors were flying. Now, Auburn is coming off a big win over clemson, Tuberville has signed a new contract, and Auburn has began a new era, the Tony Franklin era. In the game, the defense played great other than one 83 yard run by Clemson RB C.J. Spiller. Auburn racked up more yards in the game than they had in one game all year (423 yards). Auburn ended the year in style. After going into OT tied 17-17, both sides of the ball for Auburn stepped up. Auburn won the toss and elected to go on Defense first, the rest is history. The defense held them to a Field Goal. Then the offense came on the field. Brad Lester lost 3 yards on 1st down. Then, after an incomplete pass, Auburn faced 3rd and 13. Brandon Cox then completed his last pass as an Auburn Tiger for 12 yards, which set up 4th and 1. The QB sneak was called, and Cox ran it 2 yards on his last play. The next two plays were a 3 yard run by Ben Tate, and a 4 yard run by Brad Lester. Then, the final play of the game was a 7 yard run by Freshman QB Kodi Burns. If Tony Franklin can make that much of a difference in 9 practices, I can't wait to see what he can do in a whole offseason. I can't wait for the 08 season. The biggest question mark will be at QB. Tubs said last night that Burns will go into the offseason as the No. 1 QB, but recruit Chris Todd probably wouldn't have been offered a scholarship if Franklin didn't think he could compete for the starting job. I think Burns will win the job, but only time will tell. That is all for now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR and WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
